Who We Are

The Newport News CASA program is a non-profit organization committed to advocating for the best interests of children involved in the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court process. The Newport News CASA program recruits, trains, and supervises competent volunteers dedicated to representing the needs of abused and neglected children. The program promotes safe, permanent homes for all children and seeks to educate the community concerning the needs of abused and neglected children.

What We Do

A CASA is a professionally trained volunteer appointed by the Juvenile Court to advocate for the best interest of children who have been abused and/or neglected. By working alongside attorneys social workers and other professionals, CASAs expedite permanency ensuring that children do not linger in the foster care system. Volunteers receive 30 hours of training in an effort to teach them how to advocate for abused and neglected children. Upon successful completion of training, volunteers are expected to accept a case assignment and fulfill all duties towards advocating for the child's best interests.
