Food donations help maintain our inventory to ensure that we are able to serve our community when unexpected hardships occur for families, seniors, individuals and veterans. Through YouGiveGoods and on-line retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, Costco, etc. you can host a virtual food drive or ship items directly to our doors at 2401 Aluminum Avenue, Hampton, VA 23661. As always you can drop items off at our location on the side of the building. We have put together a list of our most needed items for your shopping convenience. Canned Tuna, Chicken or Ham Pasta Meals Pasta and Sauces Canned Fruits or Vegetables Hearty Meaty Soups Cereal, Breakfast Bars, Oatmeal Rice Boxes and Instant Potatoes Peanut Butter and JellyPlease also consider raising funds to help purchase fresh produce, meats, dairy and non-perishable food items. Volunteer: Virginia Peninsula Foodbank Volunteer OpportunitiesVolunteers play an integral role in helping the Foodbank fulfill its mission to minimize hunger across the greater Peninsula. Volunteers are needed at the Foodbank's facility to: - help sort and inspect non-perishable food items - stock the shelves with non-perishable food items - pack bags of non-perishable food items for several of the Foodbank's outreach programs CSFP - This program is for our low income seniors 60 and above. We currently distribute about 1,100 boxes each month to seniors in our service area through our mobile pantries. Each boxed is filled with shelf stable items than help make sure our seniors have enough food to get through each month. Individuals and groups are welcomed. The warehouse is not temperature controlled. Standing, and some minimal lifting required. Age Requirement: 12 years old with an adults, 15 and above can volunteer on their own. Closed toed shoes required.
