No shame. Period. began in Williamsburg, VA in August 2021 as a small, grassroots community project with a mission to erase the shame and stigma of menstruation for this generation of students in Hampton Roads and beyond . A year later, we become a 501(c)3 in July 2022. Two years later, we have delivered period packs to every elementary and middle school in from Essex to Chesapeake and out to the Eastern Shore and continue to work with our school nurses, family engagement leaders, and other school staff and engaged volunteers to make sure our menstruating students have everything they need to stay in class comfortably and confidently with no shame! 

No shame. Period. is erasing the shame and stigma of menstruation for this generation of students in Hampton Roads and beyond.

We are collecting donations of period supplies and making period packs. A period pack is a makeup bag or pencil pouch that contains a menstrual pad. individually wrapped personal wipe, small baggie for the period underwear, new pair of underwear, and a small encouragement item. It's everything a student needs to let them know that this is ok, it's normal and natural and they can get cleaned up, changed, and back to class comfortably and confidently.

We deliver these period packs to elementary and middle school nurses all over Hampton Roads so that nurses/teachers/counselors aren't paying for supplies with their own money when this is something the community can (and is excited to) provide! We also provide spare pants and a pamphlet for the clinic (at the nurse's discretion) about normal vs. not normal menstruation to help guide nurses in conversation with younger students who may not have had family life yet. We are currently serving 310+ schools from Essex to Chesapeake and have delivered over 7000 period packs! We would love your help in ensuring that we have the people-power to continue our amazing work in Hampton Roads and beyond!
