Who We Are
What We Do
The York County Department of Fire and Life Safety is recognized as a progressive leader in the provision of the highest quality of emergency services. Our members are committed to the preservation of life, property, and the environment by effectively and efficiently meeting the emerging public safety and welfare needs of our citizens, businesses, and visitors. We accomplish our goals by maintaining the highest standards of professional service through continued training, education, and living up to the “York County Standard of "Service Professionalism."
The department is comprised of career and volunteer members that operate out of a centrally located administration building, six strategically distributed fire stations, and a training facility located at the Dominion Virginia Power Yorktown Power Station. The department is made up of the Office of Emergency Management, Administrative and Support Services Office, and two divisions—the Fire and Rescue Operations Division and the Prevention and Community Safety Division.
