Who We Are
Since our first service project in October 2009, over 2,400 youth volunteers have cleaned, raked, shoveled, organized, collected, packed, directed, crocheted, created, played, bowled, laughed, and even sang in over 60,000 hours of combined service. Youth Volunteer Corps members are absolutely amazing and they have brought many smiles to those they’ve served—including our area veterans, homeless, Special Olympians, the elderly, as well as other children. YVCHR volunteers are changing lives all over the Peninsula!
What We Do
Youth Volunteer Corps of Hampton Roads has the mission of creating and increasing volunteer opportunities that enrich Hampton Roads’ youth, address community needs and develop a lifetime commitment to service. Our four fundamental goals are:
- Engage Hampton Roads area youth in service projects that are rewarding, educational, and fun.
- Serve the unmet needs of our community and its residents.
- Promote a greater understanding and appreciation for the diversity of their community among our young people.
- Instill a lifetime commitment to service among our young people.
Our volunteers are truly making a difference in our community! Registration forms and a list of upcoming activities can be found on our website (www.yvchr.org). Once registration forms have been filled out, YVCHR will keep track of each volunteer's hours, dates and locations served until they graduate from high school. We hope you'll join us!
