Who We Are
Mindful Gardening to Preserve Planet Earth
MISSION: The Williamsburg Botanical Garden and Freedom Park Arboretum showcases plants that support pollinators and wildlife; is a resource to educate visitors about environmental conservation including plant biology, the importance of native plants, prevention and control of invasive species; and demonstrates sustainable gardening practices for a typical garden in the Virginia Peninsula area.
What We Do
Through the efforts of dedicated volunteers, both in the Garden and behind the scenes, the Williamsburg Botanical Garden and Freedom Park Arboretum offers a serene setting for visitors to observe nature and learn about sustainable gardening for pollinators and other wildlife.
Programs and events focus on the importance of responsible gardening through landscape design and techniques that support environmental conservation.
The Garden was dedicated in July 2006 and has evolved over the years, and achieved Level I Arboretum Accreditation in December 2021. Click here to see the WBG-FPA on ArbNet.

The WBG is wholly supported by the generosity of visitors, citizens, and local businesses. The Williamsburg Botanical Garden is a work in progress, and everything you see in this little slice of native-plant-heaven has been dug, planted, built, weeded, watered, and maintained by dedicated volunteers.
