Who We Are
United Way is a nonprofit, 501(c)3, organization that connects community resources to critical needs, strengthens local nonprofit partners, and advocates for solutions grounded in deep understanding of our neighbors' challenges.
United Way of the Virginia Peninsula (UWVP) proudly serves Newport News, Hampton, Poquoson, York County, James City County, Williamsburg, Gloucester, Mathews, and New Kent.
What We Do
For more than 80 years, United Way has been bringing people together to create lasting change in our community. While many people know us for fundraising, that’s only part of our work.
We focus on the challenges that impact the health, education, and financial stability of our neighbors, working to address the root causes of community issues rather than just the symptoms.
United Way serves as a connector and convener, bringing together businesses, nonprofits, government agencies, faith communities, and individuals to develop solutions, mobilize resources, and invest in programs that create meaningful impact.
Real change happens when people work together. By uniting around a shared vision and taking collective action, we can build a stronger, more resilient community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Together, we can create a future that is better for all.
