The Laundry and Shower Monitor is responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and maintaining the day center's shower and laundry services for individuals experiencing homelessness. This position provides respectful customer service, ensures a clean and safe environment, manages service schedules, monitors equipment, and supports participants in accessing basic hygiene services with dignity and respect.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate client access to shower and laundry facilities.
- Distribute hygiene supplies, towels, detergent, and other items.
- Monitor laundry equipment to ensure proper operation and timely completion of wash and dry cycles.
- Clean and sanitize shower rooms, laundry facilities, and common areas according to agency health and safety standards.
- Restock towels, toiletries, and cleaning supplies as needed.
- Report equipment malfunctions, maintenance concerns, and supply shortages promptly.
- Enforce facility policies and procedures while treating all participants with professionalism and respect.
- Assist in maintaining a welcoming, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive environment.
- De-escalate conflicts and notify supervisory staff when assistance is needed.
- Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with agency policies.
- Collaborate with case managers and other staff to support participant needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or other vulnerable populations is preferred.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries while providing compassionate service.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic recordkeeping and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform light cleaning duties.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday.
