UPDATE AS OF 9/25 at 7:30 AM: This workday is cancelled due to rain.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS RESCHEDULED FOR FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25. (Even if the weather clears on Friday, 9/18, we anticipate that the ground will be too wet from expected rainfall on Thursday from Hurricane Sally.)
Just like any garden, the WBG battles unwanted invasive plants, especially in our wildflower meadow. We would love your help with weeding out "bad" plants, spreading mulch, and clearing paths.
Please come dressed for garden work and be prepared to get dirty and sweaty.
- Hat
- Sunscreen
- Mosquito/insect repellant
- Gardening/work gloves
- Kneeling pad
- Dress for comfort based on the weather.
- Sturdy, CLOSED-TOE footwear is REQUIRED for your safety.
- Face covering is required when in close proximity to others. It may be removed for comfort when safely away from other volunteers.
We ask that you bring your own gardening tools, such as hand-trowels, weeders, pruners, etc.
If you like, bring along materials so you can gather cuttings and/or seeds (from good plants) to take home for your own garden.
The Williamsburg Botanical Garden is a work in progress, and everything you see in this little slice of heaven has been dug, planted, built, erected, weeded, watered, and maintained by dedicated volunteers.
