Volunteer Opportunity with the Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast!
The Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast are looking for volunteers to assist at our annual Cookie Count-n-Go delivery locations. We will distribute approximately 75,000 cases of cookies, which equates to 900,000 boxes of cookies to more than 680 troops across the 3 delivery locations!
Date: February 16, 2019
Event is rain, snow or shine. We’ll need about 30 volunteers per shift.
Volunteers can choose where they’d like to help:
- Thomas Nelson Community College - 99 Thomas Nelson Drive, Hampton, VA 23666
- Harrison’s Moving and Storage - 1010 Cavalier Blvd, Chesapeake, VA 23323
- Ocean Breeze Waterpark - 849 General Booth Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA 23451
Volunteers can choose when they’d like to help:
- 1st shift: 7:00 – 11:00am
- 2nd shift: 11:00am – 1:30pm
Volunteers assignments will be provided the day of the event, assignments are:
- Counter/Loader – loading and counting cases of cookies into volunteer vehicles.
- Traffic Control – directing vehicles to their assigned pickup lane.
- Recount Station –volunteers who feel an error may have been made when cookies were loaded into their vehicles can stop here and recount.
- Water Delivery/Floater – using a wagon deliver water to volunteers loading vehicles, and fill in for bathroom breaks.
- Welcome/Hand Outs - distributing materials and pre-purchased items to troops as them come down their assigned lanes.
Volunteers must be:
- 18 and older.
- Prepared to work the entire shift selected.
- Able to lift at least 30lbs.
- Able to be on their feet for at least 4 hours.
Additional Information:
- Water will be onsite.
- Volunteers will receive a participation letter, the letter will be generically addressed (Dear Volunteer), they can enter the hours worked for the day.
- Volunteers also get to choose their favorite box of cookies to take home.
