Who We Are

Postpartum Support Virginia’s VISION is that all birthing people and parents in Virginia will receive information about PMADs, be screened for them during pregnancy and throughout the first year after birth and have access to resources for recovery.

What We Do

Postpartum Support Virginia’s MISSION is to educate families, healthcare providers and communities about perinatal mood & anxiety disorders (PMADs) and to provide resources to help new and expectant mothers and their families overcome anxiety, depression, and other PMADs.

We fulfill this mission by: Being a direct resource for perinatal people through providing social support services led by those with lived PMAD experiences. Educating healthcare providers, maternal health providers, and mental health professionals about the spectrum of PMADs and how to screen for them, as well as specific training for mental health providers on therapeutic approaches to treat PMADs. Serving as a resource for information as well as referrals to trained mental health professionals. Gathering communities to create community-level solutions for PMADs. Conducting community outreach and education to raise awareness and expand referral resources.
